"In transit. If two sweeter words exist in the English language, I have yet to hear them. Suspended between coming and going, neither here nor there, my mind slows, and [...] I achieve something approaching calm."

A subtle reminder

I was reminded of my aspirations by a six year old Burmese refugee's shirt, "Poverty shows us who are our friends and who are our enemies." If only she knew and could understand what her shirt said. I realized then that we were doing exactly what we were supposed to be doing at that moment with what we had to work with. So often, I think about how I can escape and I plan things years in advance. Ironically, I can do what I want to do here with a small mix of things I don't want to do. Which will have to work for the meantime until I am willing to accept my own poverty.
